Batang Kali, April 14, 2019 – Duopharma Biotech Berhad (“Duopharma Biotech”) has contributed RM60,000.00 to the Angkat 1.0 Programme organised by the Academia-Industry Talent Exchange program (“AIxCHANGE”): CEO @Faculty Program 2.0 Cycle 2 and EPIC Homes (“Extraordinary People Impacting Community”), a non-governmental organisation (“NGO”) which has been active in facilitating the development and enabling community-based housing solutions for Orang Asli community.

Under this progamme, a total of 25 Duopharma Biotech employees from the Company’s Sports Club took time off of their busy schedule to volunteer to build a house for Kaseh A/L Sidin and his family. The Duopharma Biotech staff not only built a home, but also established an incredible bond of friendship with the welcoming community of Kampung Orang Asli Gurney.

Mohd Idzwan bin Mohd Malik, President of Duopharma Biotech’s Sports Club said that they might not have prior experience nor the technical know-how to build a house, but they managed to complete the project within the stipulated three-day period under the guidance of EPIC Homes and help from their newfound Orang Asli friends as well.

“It was a challenging but enjoyable project and we gave our best to make Kaseh and family’s dream a reality. All 25 Duopharma Biotech volunteers came from different departments which did not deter us from achieving great teamwork to accomplish our goal. The volunteer experience not only strengthened our relationships beyond work colleagues but also enabled us to make new friends among the community of Kampung Orang Asli Gurney,” he added.

The occasion was made even more memorable for Kasih and family as the Prime Minister’s wife, Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, was present to personally hand over the house key to them at a key hand-over ceremony.

“We are truly grateful and humbled by this once in a lifetime opportunity given by Duopharma Biotech. Our children are really excited about moving into a brand-new home with two bed rooms which also has a dry kitchen and spacious living area. We are very happy. Owning a new house on the same day as receiving the key from Tun Dr Siti Hasmah made the experience very, very sweet!” Kaseh exclaimed.

Leonard Ariff bin Abdul Shatar, Group Managing Director of Duopharma Biotech, said that the Company was thankful and privileged to be able to participate in the noble project to help improve the lives of the Orang Asli community.

“Our latest effort is among some of our initiatives in contributing to those in need as part of our pledge to becoming a socially responsible organisation that is committed to uplifting underprivileged and marginalised communities in the country.
